La Storia Del Nome Xbox

Molto spesso dietro ai nomi dei prodotti che utilizziamo quotidianamente vi sono storie incredibili.  Microsoft, prima di “tirare fuori” il nome Xbox, ha lavorato a lungo nel cercare quale fosse il nome migliore per questa console. Andiamo, quindi, a vedere in dettaglio la lunga lista delle alternative per il nome Xbox.

Xbox VS AIO VS WEP VS MEGA VS etc…

“Xbox” è un ottimo nome per una console ed anche Microsoft lo ha notato. La nuova Xbox One, come la Xbox 360, non a caso porta con sé il nome della prima versione della console sviluppata dall’azienda di Redmond. In un’intervista recente il padre del nome Xbox, Seamus Blackley, ha spiegato che “xbox” è la versione abbreviata di DirectX Box.

“First, there were our code names, which were WEP – ‘Windows Entertainment Project’ – designed to make Microsoft executives comfortable, Midway – ‘Midway between a PC and a console or ‘Battle of Midway’ – you decide – and DirectX Box, which was shortened to xbox in email very early on.”

Oltre 30 nomi vennero creati da parte del team ma tutti, come Xbox, alla fine sono degli acronimi. Come potete vedere alcuni di questi, tra cui AIO, WEP o MEGA, sono stati utilizzati per definire altre tipologie di computer, tecnologie o siti web. Guardando tra i nomi presenti nella lista qui sotto, a nostro avviso il nome Xbox, forse un po’ per abitudine, ci pare quello più adatto per una console. Cosa ne pensate?
